How to Get Away With Murder, episode four

Annalise took Tegan up on her offer to go out dancing. She meets up with her in a club but she’s still in her head. She argued with Nate about telling Bonnie that her sister stole her baby. Tegan helps her get over it by getting into the music. Laurel goes to wake up Michaela who is very hung over. Michaela tells Laurel that she drank to get over Tegan and then ran into Frank when she was looking for Asher. Now they both need to avoid both of them. Easier said than done as Asher is at the house for gay wedding planning. Oliver reiterates that they can’t really afford anything and Connor wants to focus on winning Nate Senior’s case.

Speaking of, Annalise and Nate go to see his father for trial prep. When they leave, Annalise gets mad at Nate for not telling his father that he will probably end up in a psych facility. Nate tosses back about Annalise telling Bonnie about her baby. They reach an impasse. Before heading to the firm, Oliver stops by to see Frank and ask why he’s stalking Gabriel. Frank says that he was just making a file for Annalise. He does it for everyone. The firm is trying to land a billion dollar client. Gabriel isn’t interested because the company is discriminatory. Connor would rather focus on Nate Sr. but Michaela is so game. Emmett tells Annalise she needs to try and help them land the case too.

Ron asks Bonnie to sign HR paperwork so they can go public. She needs time to think. Oliver is focused on the fact Frank has checked them all out. Annalise pays the baby a visit in daycare and spends most of the time thinking about Bonnie. She calls her to do lunch. Just before they meet, Annalise gets a call from Nate. He’s on leave and he went to stalk Bonnie’s sister. She’s got a kid that’s a teenager. He sends a picture to Annalise but she tells him to leave it alone. During lunch, Bonnie talks about Ron for a bit and then cuts to the chase and asks Annalise what she needs. Annalise doesn’t have an answer so when Bonnie mentions the case, she makes something up.

At the firm, Emmett and Tegan are giving the new client a tour. Michaela sucks up but when introductions are made to Annalise she has no interest in chatting and is insulted when the woman tries to touch her hair. Gabriel goes in to see Annalise. He can’t handle the bad clients. She tells him to stay in his lane. They have to put up with the bad to make the money for the good. She sends him to get the file from Bonnie. He goes and talks to Bonnie and Asher for a minute. After he leaves Asher talks to Bonnie for a few minutes before he brings up their relationship and what could have been. She send him home.

Michaela approaches Tegan. She has a hail Mary to land the new client, blackmail. Tegan gives her about 12 hours to pull it off. The gang is all at home when Frank shows up. He wants Oliver to lay off his own hacking of Gabriel. Annalise and Nate go to see his father for more prep. At home, the group writes the opening statement. The next morning Tegan and Emmett meet with the potential client. Michaela barges in with her research. Tegan has her sit and then makes her pitch. It has nothing to do with what Michaela looked up. Tegan gets the client her way. She just wanted to put Michaela in her place.

While waiting for the ruling, Connor looks up his own file. He gets mad about what he sees. Nate Sr. talks to a psychiatrist and the judge rules on it. They are clear to argue insanity. Annalise is on a high and names Connor her second chair. He’s pissed though. He chases her into her office and they fight about her helping him get back into school. She goes right back at him for bringing his drama to her. She’s done. He’s out and Gabriel is second chair. Nate goes to see his dad and explains what will happen if it’s a not guilty verdict. He’ll be in a mental facility. His father seems okay with that.

Afterward, Nate is in his car crying when he gets a call about the DNA test he had run on the teen living with Bonnie’s sister. He calls Annalise. Bonnie just signed Ron’s HR form but before she can drop it off she gets a call from Annalise. She goes to see her. The DNA is not a match. Bonnie is so upset that she starts to cry. Annalise holds her. A month and a half later, at the wedding no one can find Oliver. Michaela suggests they all call him. She takes out her phone and calls someone. Bonnie has a phone that starts ringing. She pulls it out and sees that Michaela is calling. She hits ignore. Michaela leaves a message for… Nate. That’s whose phone Bonnie has. Annalise staggers alone into a fancy room in the dark. A few steps in she falls to the ground and starts crying.
