Rome gets a call from the kid PJ he met at the hospital. The latter is starting therapy with Maggie soon. Rome notices a baby gift he bought when he thought Regina was pregnant in his drawer. He shoves it into the back.

Delilah and the kids have everyone over to give them Jon mementos before they donate the rest. Gary gets a sweater. Regina gets a trophy. Sophie gives Rome some cuff links and it chokes him up. Eddie gets a Blackhawks mini-stick and Maggie gets a record. They all start heading out to have some difficult afternoons ahead of them. Sophie shows Gary the photo album and he sees Barbara Morgan. He wants to go back to her house for answers but Delilah tells him not to.

She wants to stop searching for answers that aren’t there. Rome and Regina go to a car dealer. He wants to scale back and be fiscally responsible. Sophie brings up the search and Delilah admits that they always just end up with more questions. She’s not sure what to do. Eddie and Kathryn are getting ready to tell Theo about the divorce. Instead they end up talking about their almost kiss. Then they actually kiss. They decide to work on things. They get distracted by the smoke alarm.

Kathryn burned Theo’s grilled cheese. She invites Eddie over for dinner and to come home. He accepts. Maggie and Gary are waiting for the doctor. He’s nervous but he’s talking positive. The doctor comes in. Maggie is in remission. Rome wants a two seat convertible so Regina tells him to go for it. She’ll even negotiate. Delilah goes to see Barbara Morgan and talk about Jon. Flashback to the guys almost missing Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup because of a weather delay at the airport.

Gary and Eddie talk about Kathryn. Gary thinks they are making a good choice, starting again with total honesty. Barbara talks to Delilah about her boyfriend Dave. He was Jon’s roommate and he talked him into going to a conference in LA with him. Barbara plays Jon’s video for Delilah. Flashback to Jon missing his flight to LA. Dave made it. American Airlines flight 11 on September 11. Jon never told Delilah. This weighed on him for all of those years until finally he couldn’t go on anymore.

Delilah goes home and talks to Gary and Maggie about it. She points out that there will never be just one answer. Hunter confronts Kathryn to clear the air and she puts him in his place. Regina negotiated a baller deal but while they wait for it to be prepped, he balks. He doesn’t want the sports car. He wants a family car cause he wants a family. The last time Jon saw Barbara was at the airport. After their confrontation, he stepped into a bar and had a drink.

That’s where he met Delilah. Gary and Maggie talk about Jon’s guilt about Dave. She thinks that he’s the same way. She thinks Gary wants to save her because he couldn’t save Jon. Rome and Regina are talking about kids. They can’t agree and then her phone rings. Delilah is in labor. Gary goes to visit Jon’s grave and talks to him. He says goodbye. Barbara watches Jon’s video. He talks about all the things he has missed and will miss. Delilah and co. get to the hospital. It’s baby time.

Kathryn is getting ready for dinner when Eddie calls. He asks her to step outside. He wants to tell her something. Rome tells Regina that this could be them but she is firm with him. She wants to give him everything but she is not interested in this. Barbara wasn’t the one watching the video. It was her son. PJ. The same PJ! Kathryn finds Eddie outside. He wants to come home but he promised her no more lies. There’s something he needs to tell her.

Poor Kathryn. She deserves so much better than Eddie. He’s an awful person. Really. Like he’s an okay dad but he’s a terrible adult. I’m happy no one died. I don’t like that they did that whole weird 9/11 angle to it at all. It seems out of left field and insensitive.

A Million Little Things, episode fifteen

Maggie is at chemo chatting with the other patients. Gary comes in. He’s in good spirits. Maggie is doing well and they are taking a ride to Plymouth Rock. Eddie has found Theo’s old car seat but it has expired so after another round of mediation with Kathryn, he and Delilah are going to go baby shopping. Rome has a surprise visitor, his dad. While Regina heads to work fretting about a food blogger, Rome finds out that his brother is staying with his parents and they are looking to pawn him off.

Mediation is going well, for the most part. The only point of contention is Theo’s legal guardian. Delilah is off the table. Rome knuckles under to his father. His brother will stay with him. Danny is going on a date. Delilah gives him some cash and Jon’s money clip. Kathryn leaves. Eddie tries to talk to her about putting this behind them. She goes off though. She’s been working on that and she’s done. Now she’s late for work so she drives off. Rome’s father does everything for his brother Omar who doesn’t seem to appreciate it.

Gary and Maggie are on their way out when Rome calls. He needs to borrow Gary’s air mattress and wants them to drop it off. Eddie is driving when he sees a car wreck. It’s Kathryn! He gets out and the cops have to hold him back. They get her out and she’s up and talking. Paramedics are going to take her to the hospital and Eddie will follow right behind. Delilah is in the baby store, checking her texts.

Omar is on the phone and driving Rome crazy. Maggie and Gary stop in drop the mattress off. Then they head out but before they can get far, Regina calls. She needs them to drop off food for Kathryn. Delilah drops Danny and his date, Elliott, off. Eddie and Kathryn talk about Theo’s legal guardian. She’s mad because Delilah was the best option. Gary and Maggie talk to Regina about the food blog and then take the food. That’s when Delilah shows up.

She hears about the accident and calls Eddie. He takes the call and Kathryn overhears it. Rome and Omar are playing video games and talking. Rome is ready to open up about his issues but Omar is sarcastic and he backs off. Delilah goes to pick up Danny. Elliott is long gone. Danny is not in a good mood. Gary and Maggie drop off the food and go inside. Gary offers to help with the insurance. Kathryn asks Gary to be Theo’s legal guardian.

He tries to say no but Maggie talks him into it. Then they hit the road and Delilah calls. Danny is upset and she needs Gary’s help. Regina is worrying at the restaurant when Rome comes in with his brother and father. She leads them to a table. Gary talks to Danny and it turns out Delilah is to blame. Her comment that the boys were cute freaked him out because he isn’t really out. She outted a 12 year old.

Kathryn and Eddie talk about talking and moving forward. Delilah has some parenting doubts but Gary talks her through it. At the restaurant, Regina is making nice with the customers while Rome fights with his brother and father. Omar can skate through life but Rome’s depression is what’s embarrassing. Maggie’s bucket list trip to Plymouth Rock was about the past. She’s going to beat cancer though so she wants to start looking forward.

Rome ducked into the kitchen and his father came and found him. He knows Omar is a mess. That’s why he let’s it happen. He doesn’t need to worry about Rome but Rome tells him that maybe he should. Turns out the blogger didn’t come. Regina is going to head to bed but she tells Rome to talk to his brother. He really does. Gary and Maggie stop by the hospital to give a puzzle to one of their chemo friends.

Gary goes in and finds out that the woman died that day. He’s upset. Eddie is heading out. He tells Kathryn to call if she needs anything. After he leaves, Kathryn looks at the table and remembers the night they conceived Theo on it. Eddie walks outside. He looks back at the house. Gary goes back outside. He doesn’t tell Maggie that their friend died. Instead he buckles up and tells her they are going to Plymouth Rock. The next morning, Delilah goes out to get the paper. Someone is watching her. It’s Barbara Morgan and she sees for the first time that Delilah is pregnant.

I like Kathryn. I feel bad for her. It was also fairly obvious that Elliott wasn’t on board with the parental support. Poor kid. Also, Rome and Regina for the win. Just in general always.

A Million Little Things, episode fourteen

Gary goes to an address that was listed for Barbara Morgan. A woman answers but tells him he has the wrong place. Someone else had been by too. Ashley. When he leaves the woman’s husband wants to know who was there and she tells him it doesn’t matter because he’s gone. Rome and Gary go to pick Eddie up from the bus. The tour is over. He didn’t have sex. He gets an update on everything else including the restaurant. It’s opening the next day.

Regina is doing a run through with the staff and her pushy mother is there. The guys get there and Eddie has a moment with Delilah. When Maggie shows up, Gary updates her on Eddie’s sex life and then she ducks in to see Delilah. She’s stalking the guy that hit on her at the gas station. He owns a bar chain and might be able to help with their current woes. Maggie tells her to go for it. Regina is still on the phone trying to get new bartenders when she finds out her mom is emailing her uncle about the opening.

The guys are heading out and Gary checks in with Maggie. She tells him she appreciates his concern but it’s a little much. Regina gets an email from her uncle. Her mother gave him her address. She is not happy. In fact she tears into her mother for it. She walks out and Delilah follows. They talk through it. Rome and Maggie talk about how he’s feeling. Gary hired a PI to find Barbara Morgan. She’s a fan of Eddie’s band so Gary thinks they should sleep together. Delilah goes to see Andrew the gas station guy and they talk about being determined.

At the restaurant, Regina is in her office when her mom comes in. She mentions that all the money came from her uncle. That’s it. Regina is done. She walks out. She’s not doing this. Delilah brings Andrew back and tries to make sure things are full systems go. Gary makes a few snide comments to Andrew. Regina closes herself off in her room. Rome and Maggie are there. Eddie is with the PI. He sings for her and then they kiss. Before it can go any further though, he backs off. He’s not ready. She’s okay with that. Then she gets a call from her office.

Gary tries to tell Delilah that she’s too accepting. She tells him that she can take care of herself. Then Eddie calls. The PI found a B. Morgan. Regina tells Rome and Maggie about an encounter when she was 12. Her uncle sexually assaulted her and her mother told her that she misconstrued it. The next day the three of them are going to go on a road trip to confront him while Gary and Eddie go looking for B. Morgan. Delilah is at the restaurant when Andrew shows up. He’s come through on the bartenders and the liquor license.

Regina gets to the hospital only to find out that her uncle died earlier that morning. She feels cheated. Gary and Eddie find out someone bought all of the B. Morgan works. It was Jon and payment was sent to the address Gary already tried. The others are still at the hospital when Regina’s mother shows up. Maggie tells her that maybe she didn’t want to confront what Regina was saying because she would have had to confront her own issues. It works. Rome is proud and is going to go back on the meds.

Andrew managed to get the inspection done. As he walks out the fire inspector, Gary confronts him about being too good to be true. Regina calls. She’s on her way back. Delilah tells Gary off about trying to control everything. Regina and her mom have a moment in the car. The opening is a smashing success. Afterward, Regina and her mom acknowledge they have work to do but they’ve made progress. B. Morgan is watching a tape Jon made her right before he died. It’s the same lady Gary talked to.

Okay. Big episode. I liked the way that Rome and Maggie were supportive without being pushy. It seemed fairly obvious where that was going to go and overall did seem a little gimmicky but they handled it well. Gary annoyed me to no end. The double standard of pushing Eddie on someone but scaring Andrew away from Delilah was dumb. And where was Kathryn?

A Million Little Things, episode thirteen

Eddie is getting back on the tour bus when Kathryn calls. Theo has been acting weird. She thinks he might need some dad time so Eddie offers to keep him on the bus for the night. She’s reluctant but he pushes it. Delilah is trying to reach Ashley but getting nowhere. Gary is driving Maggie. He seems to be in a good mood but she is not. She’s mad at him for making her car. Eddie lays down the ground rules.

They aren’t rock stars. They are the Wiggles and this is a kid friendly zone. Ashley meets with the woman about the subway vote. She needs the votes for the subway project to save Delilah’s house. The woman says she’s got it. Maggie gets her results. Good news, cautiously good news. The chemo is working but they aren’t out of the woods yet. Hunter tells Kathryn that Ashley hasn’t been doing anything illegal. She invites him over for dinner.

Gary and Maggie go to Delilah’s and break the good news. Now Sophie wants to learn to drive and Delilah is ready to go until the doorbell rings. It’s Kathryn. She explains that Jon bet big on the subway stop but it didn’t happen. Now that it’s back on the table they might have an offer but they have to move now. So Rome and Gary take Sophie for a driving lesson. It doesn’t last long. Regina is busy fighting about their wedding album with the photographer.

After the lesson, Rome takes off and Gary comes back in. He brings Ashley in with him. She explains the subway stop situation and then how she missed all the signs with Jon. She missed him by 12 seconds. Sophie and Maggie talk about Delilah being overprotective and Maggie not telling her own parents about the cancer. Ashley admits she used the life insurance to cover the loans. Now they just need to wait because the buildings will be worth a ton. Delilah tells her to get out.

Kathryn is cooking dinner for Hunter. She tries to chat about work but he tells her he’d rather talk about something else. Eddie takes Theo out to eat and talks to him about what’s going on. At bedtime, Theo mentions he doesn’t want to cause any more problems. Eddie tells him that that will never be the case. After lights out, one of bandmates tells Eddie that his divorce limbo isn’t easy for Theo either.

Hunter offers to take things slow but Kathryn is ready. She kisses him. The next morning Delilah and Gary talk about Jon’s plan. They discover Barbara Morgan’s name on the policy. Hunter and Kathryn are smiling and soft. Until he tells her he made partner. Then she’s pissed that he kept it from her and kicks her out. The gang is going to the council vote for the subway stop. Kathryn pushes for Delilah to sell but she needs a minute.

She goes to the bathroom and meets Jerry, the councilwoman that is pushing for the subway stop. She tells Delilah that she has been blaming herself and that they have the votes for the stop. While they are at vote, Maggie teaches Sophie how to drive. The vote fails but Delilah is okay. She trusted her own instincts and sold the buildings. Eddie returns Theo and everyone is all smiles, until Eddie sees the dishes left by Hunter.

Sophie manages to park the car. Now that she’s got it, it’s time for Maggie to face her own issues. She calls her parents. Sophie goes inside and talks to her mom. She’s going to read Jon’s letter and gives the kids the choice about reading it. They both want to. Jon tells them that this wasn’t about them. He has always loved them and he tried to hold on but he couldn’t do it anymore. Gary is in the kitchen waiting.

Maggie has her talk with her parents. She’s got friends that will help her through it. She’s okay. Rome and Regina look at their wedding album. She thanks him for supporting him unconditionally and wants to be the same way but she thinks he should be on his meds. Ashley goes back to the office and looks around. Then she calls Gary. She apologizes and tells him that she doesn’t know anything.

Then she uses her ticket to fly to Barcelona. Gary calls Kathryn to find out where the mortgage bills were being sent. She will forward him the address. Eddie is still there. He tells her that they shouldn’t hang on for Theo’s sake. They should divorce. Then he goes to see Theo and she cries. Gary and Delilah find the other apartment. Gary recognizes the view from the window. It’s the same view in the painting Jon gave him during his time at chemo. That painting was done by B. Morgan.

There are too many twists and turns here. I like a lot of it. I really do but they need to scale it back on a per episode basis so that these characters can grow. It’s too much right now.

A Million Little Things, episode twelve

Jon wrote a note to Barbara. He wouldn’t change a thing. Flashback to the day before he died. Maggie is just moving to Boston. Gary is having “the talk” with another woman. Delilah reminds Jon of their dinner plans while he’s on his way out to work. Then she talks to Eddie. She’s going to tell him that night. Rome is getting ready for his big pitch meeting while Regina just gets ready for work. She tells him that she’s jealous he’s living the dream. She goes to work and some dude grabs her ass.

It’s not a good day. Meanwhile, the guys are playing basketball. Gary tells them he broke up with the new girl. It had only been two weeks but Jon is pissed that he is scared of commitment. They end up screaming at each other. Afterward, Jon goes to work where Ashley is opening the mail. There’s a traffic ticket from Barbara’s car in the mix. She lies to him about it. Rome does his big pitch. He does great.

Gary feeds a stray dog and makes a friend. Eddie is getting Theo ready to go to his grandmother’s. They make museum plans but Theo wants his mom to go too. Regina tells her boss what happened but he’s more concerned about the client. Jon is not having a good day at work. The legislation for the subway vote is falling through. That’s all that was keeping the company afloat. He tells her to pack up.

He wants to show her something. He takes her to the apartment and she kisses him. He shuts her down though. Then he tells her he’s never shown anyone this place. It’s special to him. Delilah is waiting for him at the restaurant. Instead he’s telling Ashley that he used to live in that apartment and he bought the block to keep it from being bulldozed. Maggie is making dinner with her dad. They talk about her brother.

Jon talks to Ashley about dreams. What is her one dream and she tells him its to go to Barcelona and see where her grandparents got married. He tells her to go now. Then he starts getting fidgety. He talks about regrets and little things spiralling. Then his phone rings. It’s Regina. She needs someone to talk to about work. Delilah is still waiting in the restaurant. Eddie goes to see Gary, who now has a dog.

They talk about his marriage. Eddie is about to tell Gary about his affair when he gets a text from Kathryn. She’s going to be late at work. Rome gets home and he’s got all sorts of gift sets. Regina finds out and is thrilled for him. She tells him that this is as good as it gets and he seems shattered by that. Jon goes back to the office with a bag from a pharmacy. He seals some envelopes and writes notes. Delilah finally gets a dinner guest. It’s Eddie and he tells her that she will never wait again.

Then he kisses her hand and Jon sees through the window. Gary is restless because he has a screening in the morning. He talks to his new dog. Delilah is in bed when Jon gets home. The next morning, Maggie sends her dad home. Delilah and Eddie talk on the phone about what to do next. They don’t really have a plan. Alone in her apartment, Maggie thinks about what her dad said. She packs her apartment back up. Gary calls the shelter. He wants the dog back.

Jon tells Ashley to take a long lunch while he handles the deal for the restaurant. Rome looks at all the stuff he got for the deal. Then he digs through the drawers and finds a pad with blank paper. Jon finishes his deal and then calls Eddie. He and Delilah are in bed together. He says he’ll call Jon back in 10 minutes from the car. Ashley gets the mail. There’s a ticket to Barcelona. She thinks back to their conversation. Then she walks back toward Jon’s office. She sees him and runs but it’s too late. Gary gets his results. Cancer-free. He calls Jon. Ashley answers.

This was an interesting way to show Jon’s last day. I’m still confused about who Barbara is and what money they didn’t have and what Jon was really up to.

A Million Little Things, episode eleven

Jon made a video apologizing to Barbara. He owed her answers and abandoned her. Delilah is running with the kids. She thinks about the fact that Jon had her sign away the house and she didn’t even know. Delilah stops running and Sophie backtracks to check on her. She says she’s just catching her breath. Gary and Maggie are at her chemo appointment. He’s eating and she’s complaining that she can’t taste anything. He’s got to head out to be moral support for Delilah at Katherine’s office while they go over the loan paperwork.

Regina calls Maggie freaking out because she can’t find Rome. He’s off his meds. He just went for a run though. He’s back and adamant that he feels great. Katherine is frazzled and trying to hurry Theo up when Eddie calls. He’s on tour and wants to chat but they don’t really have time. She gets to the office moments before Delilah and Gary walk in. She managed to arrange a 60 day extension on the house but she still owes $18 million and needs to pay it. She freaks out.

Gary doesn’t buy it. He thinks Jon must have had a plan. Delilah yells at him for defending Jon and putting him on a pedestal. Flashback to when the guys met. It was in an elevator. Jon was making business deals and wearing Armani. Theo gets another call from Eddie He tells him dad that Katherine has been helping Delilah with her problem before the call drops. Sophie hears and wants to chat with Theo. Meanwhile Danny is outside with his crush Elliot. He ditches him when his mom gets home though.

Delilah walks in and is immediately confronted by Sophie. She wants to know what’s going on. Delilah talks to the kids. Sophie is pissed. Jon was a liar and she didn’t even know him. Gary gets to Maggie’s place. She’s getting ready to go for a run because it’s the only thing that makes her feel like herself. He’ll join her because he needs something to believe in. Rome and Regina go home and talk about her restaurant. He offers to take a commercial gig but she says that she will find another way.

Delilah and Katherine go to the bank for loan information. They come close to running into Ashley who is there to close out an account. She hides from them. Maggie and Gary are running. Gary needs to stop and flashes back to that first elevator meeting. Jon talked about not being home enough for his family. Regina has dinner with her mom to talk about investing in the restaurant. They fight about fresh starts and second chances. Delilah and Katherine get back to the house and decide to have dinner before Katherine and Theo leave.

They walk into the kitchen and find Eddie. He’s surprising Theo but now Katherine feels awkward and out of place. She yells to Theo and heads out. The next morning Gary is all about the 5K. Maggie knows what he’s doing. He’s avoiding. She talks him through it. Katherine gets a call from her assistant at the office. He found something she’s going to want to see. Gary and Maggie get to Delilah’s and go inside. Sophie still isn’t running. Danny tries to egg her on and she teases him about the girl he has a crush on.

Gary tries to distract them but Danny’s got it. He comes out to his mother and sister. Then they all go to the race. Rome and Regina run and talk about investments and the commercial. Maggie only makes it about halfway. Katherine finds that the account has been active after Jon’s death. Her assistant will look into it. Everyone finishes the race and Gary sees that Maggie isn’t there. He runs back and finds her. He gives her a pep talk and then walks with her to finish. Everyone else joins them.

Moments after they walk across the finish line, Katherine calls Gary. She tells him that Ashley is the one making the payments at Rutledge Trust. That triggers something in the elevator memories. Rutledge was code for take care of my family. Gary knows where Ashley is so he and Katherine head to her place. She’s not there though. She’s at the other apartment that she slept with Jon in shredding papers. She goes to confront some other woman. Ashley tells the woman that she owes him this. The woman says she doesn’t.

So I love Constance Zimmer and I’m glad she’s joining this show. Where did Eddie sleep over and if he was there to surprise Theo why didn’t he chase Katherine when she left with him? I’m glad that Gary and Maggie have sorted their issues for the time being. I am also thrilled that things turned out well with Danny coming out. Rome and Regina are my favorites though.

A Million Little Things, episode ten

Rome wakes up to find Regina made at him. She had a dream where he cheated on her. They banter and he cheers her up. She wants to have sex but he’s got to go. Kathryn is sewing Theo’s Superman cap. He wants to help and while she teaches him, he reveals that he knows she is Santa. Eddie shows up a few minutes early and completely derails their time together.

Delilah is at home with the kids when Gary shows up. He gives them some re-gifts and goofs around. Delilah wants a picture of his shirt but she can’t find her phone. Pregnancy brain though the kids don’t know that yet. Gary goes to check on Ashley who is in the office fighting with someone about Jon’s business. When Gary asks about it, she lies. Eddie and Kathryn talk about Theo giving up on Santa.

Maggie is at chemo. She hasn’t told anyone yet. The others are all getting a family Christmas tree for Delilah’s house. She talks to Gary about reaching out to Maggie. He says no. Delilah slips on some ice and the guys panic. The kids don’t understand what the problem is. The adults cover it up. Back at the house, as everyone decorates, Sophie remembers Jon. She leaves the room. Eddie follows and they have a chat in the kitchen.

He gets her to see that it is okay to feel the way she does. They will both miss someone on Christmas. She’ll miss Jon and he’ll miss Theo because he’ll be on the road. They head back into the living room. Soon enough Gary needs to step out. Ashley follows him and he tells her that he’s still looking for answers. She tries to talk him out of that. He heads back and she grabs her coat and keys and leaves.

Rome and Regina head to the garage to get more decorations. She wants to beat the clock but he says that he can’t because of the medication. Delilah’s last guest arrives. It’s Maggie, who she quickly sends out with Gary to get more lights. Regina tries to understand where Rome is coming from. He tells her that she is taking care of him. He doesn’t feel like a man. The car ride to get lights is tense.

While Eddie and Sophie play guitar, Delilah is in the kitchen in pain. She pulls Eddie aside and tells him there is some spotting. He’s not taking any chances. He takes her to the doctor. Rome and Regina are babysitting. The cover story is that Delilah and Eddie went to get apple juice but Sophie finds four bottles. She runs a tracking app and finds out her mom is at the hospital. She sneaks out to investigate.

At the tree lot, Maggie and Gary stand their ground when someone tries to add a bunch of things to their order. At the hospital, Delilah tells Eddie to stay during the check-up because he’s the father. Gary and Maggie have officially bonded and are friends and they goof around. She finds a woman’s scarf in his car and nabs it for herself. The pregnancy is okay.

Delilah can head out but before she does, Sophie shows up. She finds out about the baby and since she doesn’t know about the affair, she assumes it is Jon’s and is happy. After the trip to the hospital, Sophie rushes in to tell Danny. Delilah apologizes to Eddie but he tells her she did the right thing. Kathryn and Theo have been home making a gingerbread house. He talked about not liking getting older and wishing Santa could help.

Well as bedtime approaches, Kathryn gets a call and it’s from Santa! She talks to him about what Theo wants and he is stoked. As the call winds down, we see that it’s Eddie. He apologizes for not being there when she was pregnant and Theo was born. Everyone is gathered around the tree chatting when Sophie comes in in Jon’s Santa suit. She and Eddie are singing for everyone when the doorbell chimes.

Delilah answers it and a man hands her an envelope. She’s been served. She has 21 days to vacate the property. Ashley sees the whole thing from her car. Back inside, Gary and Maggie are heading out. Maggie puts on her newly acquired scarf and Delilah comments that she gave one just like it to Ashley. They get in the car and he tells her that he had sex with Ashley because he loves her. Maggie pukes on him.

Gary connects the dots though. He checks her arm and sees the bruising. He knows she started chemo. He kisses her. The next morning, Gary is dropping Eddie off for the tour. Everyone else is there to surprise him too. Eddie hugs everyone and then gets on the bus. Rome and Regina talk about next year being better. He wants to get back to them but he’s got to find himself first. He wants to get off the meds.

Maggie is at chemo. Gary comes in and sits with her. Delilah is desperate. She brings the papers to Kathryn. Ashley goes to her apartment. She checks the mailbox and there are lots of letters. She flashes back to coming to the apartment with Jon. He whisked her upstairs and told her that he’s not what people think he is, before bringing her inside and kissing her.

Okay I get that it was a grand romantic gesture but Maggie just puked and then Gary kissed her. Grosses me out. Also, Eddie just still completely disregards Kathryn’s feelings. I feel bad for her. We always knew Ashley was up to no good. This shouldn’t be surprising.

A Million Little Things, episode nine

Flashback to when Jon is still alive. The guys are playing basketball when Gary tells them he has breast cancer. They don’t take him seriously at first. That was a year ago. He’s in remission now and shares that fact with Ashley who is still in bed. Then he heads out. Regina and Rome are getting ready for their day. She reminds him to take his medication and tells him her sink is clogged. She’ll call the super. Delilah rushes into Maggie’s place. They are going on a road trip but first Delilah needs a bathroom. The adventure is to a college where Maggie is speaking.

Eddie is home when an old bandmate stops by. They need a singer to open for the Lumineers. Eddie doesn’t know. Katherine meanwhile is trying to get her mom to babysit Theo for a few hours. She doesn’t want to call Eddie when it’s her turn with Theo but her mom isn’t exactly helpful. Gary tells Rome and Eddie that he slept with Ashley and they ask about Maggie. Gary gets pissed and sarcastically says that this will all be brushed aside in time for the game that night like always. The others reveal they are double booked and can’t go. That sets him off even further and he tells them that Jon would be disappointed.

This flashback is Jon at chemo with Gary. He’s messing around to keep Gary’s spirits up. Then Gary throws up and it’s a reality check. Delilah gets hot on at a gas station and it throws her through a loop. Regina didn’t call the super. She called Rome’s dad who comes by to teach his son how to fix the sink. Eddie goes to the house. Theo and his new friend are there with babysitter Hunter. Eddie is not amused. Ashley is fighting with someone on the phone. She’s trying to salvage something for Jon’s family. Gary calls her to go out for a drink. She’s in.

During the next flashback, Jon is still trying to cheer Gary up. He hangs a picture of Boston from the Cambridge side. He tells Gary that when he’s better they’ll rent a boat and go out on the water. Eddie goes to see Kathryn at work. He is mad that they don’t communicate. He wants Theo with him when he’s not with her. Maggie is reading her lecture and it is bombing. When she goes off script, the class is enraptured. Kathryn second-guesses her play for partner on the way out of her office for the interview.

If she gets it she will have even less time with Theo. Hunter talks her into going for it. Gary and Ashley go for drinks. He talks about Jon and starts to see signs that maybe weren’t there. They talk and she mentions Barbara Morgan. He doesn’t know the name and she tells him that she’s been searching for answers too. Then he invites her to the game. She agrees to go. First she’s going to take a call while he runs to the bathroom. The caller asks about Gary and Ashley seems pleased.

While Rome is out of the room, his father finds his medication and asks about it. Rome explains his depression and tries to make his father see. The sink is fixed and his father says good job and leaves the room. On the drive back, Delilah talks to Maggie about how she really lost Jon two years earlier. That’s when he got distant. Kathryn nails the interview and gets the partner off. She’s willing to accept but has one request. She wants to be home for dinner every night. They’ll have to discuss it as a committee.

Before heading to the game, Ashley and Gary are just going to make one quick stop at his place. He starts to talk about maybe misleading her but they head inside and it’s a surprise party. Everyone is there to celebrate his remission. Maggie is there too and when he hugs her, he sees the picture Jon hung up. He can’t deal and leaves the room. He’s out on the balcony and Delilah joins him. They talk about grief for a few minutes. Then he goes back in.

Gary gives a speech. He thanks them all for coming and tells them he’s genuinely grateful that they all came but he’s angry. He’s angry at Jon. They made plans and he thought they were the same but apparently not. This is where making plans gets him. Flashback to the day he beat cancer. He and Jon are happy. They play video games and talk about beating cancer together. Present day Gary puts on his hat and boots up the game.

Rome just wanted his father to be okay with this. He’s not though. Regina tells him that the first step is respecting himself. He did that today. Delilah sits alone in her room. She’s considering her wedding ring. She doesn’t take it off. Kathryn does though. Hunter notices and they share a smile. She gets a call. The partners can’t accept her condition to be home for dinner. She’s all smiles though. She got her life back. Eddie agrees to tour with his old band. Gary ignores a text from Maggie who is AT CHEMO!

I feel like the chemo bombshell would have been a winter finale thing but apparently there is still one more episode before that. Regina and Rome are great. I root for them with all things always. I don’t necessarily like Gary or Kathryn but absolutely understand where they are coming from. Eddie, Delilah and Maggie are awful. Also, Delilah’s kids. Were they forgotten?

A Million Little Things, episode eight

Maggie is in little airplane with a guy. It’s smooth sailing at first but they hit some turbulence. She wants to help but he won’t let her. Instead he just takes a drink. She starts to yell and freak out and then startles awake. She’s in bed alone. Gary on the other hand is apartment hunting with Eddie. He’s back on the market and wants his bachelor pad to himself. Eddie thinks the place they are looking at is great but balks at the one year contract.

Delilah and Rome are setting the table when Ashley comes in with the linens. They are still hitting road blocks on the loan for the restaurant and Delilah plans to put some of the life insurance money up. Regina is cooking for a big dinner for their friends. Katherine was a polite maybe and Maggie has ghosted. They all think the break-up is because of Gary being Gary. Eddie thinks the same thing and his hassling Gary about it. Fed up, Gary takes a low blow at Eddie.

Katherine is at work and Hunter asks her out. She tells him she’s not ready. Gary goes to see Maggie. He knocks and talks to her through the door. She doesn’t respond though. Rome actually gets through to Maggie by phone but it’s basically just so she can ditch him as his therapist. Eddie visits Katherine at work and shows her his new place. She tells him he doesn’t have to and he asks her about the year lease. She assumes Gary told him about her dinner with Hunter. He didn’t but Eddie wishes her happiness.

Gary swings by Maggie’s office and finds that she quit. She’s at home and Regina has shown up to find out what happened with Rome. Regina yells at her until Maggie admits that she’s dying. Gary is walking and remembers that one time he ran into Maggie’s friend Tom. He hails a cab and heads for the airport. Regina reports back to Rome and Delilah. They realize they were wrong to blame Gary. They crash Maggie’s run.

She figures they are there for the “choose life” talk but they say they aren’t. They just need help choosing the wine pairings for the restaurant. She agrees to taste wine. Gary tracks down Tom in Chicago. He needs to talk to him. Eddie talks to Theo about moving and it’s a rough conversation but he makes it through. The wine tasting is going well until Maggie starts crying. She’s not upset about the cancer. It’s the idea of them all losing someone else.

Maggie lost someone, presumably the pilot in her dream. She cries and they all look at each other. Gary and Tom are sitting on a bench talking about Maggie. Tom thinks she’s a lost cause. She lost Chad and shut down. Gary just wants him to come back to Boston and try with him. Tom won’t do it. He tried once and can’t bear the flight home again. Same dream but Maggie is pilot this time. They start running into trouble and Chad tells her to just put it on autopilot. She won’t though. Rome is suddenly behind her helping her steer. She wakes up.

Eddie is at the new place freaking out. He calls Delilah to try and track Gary down. He figures that he took off because of their fight. Delilah asks where he is. Katherine’s at work when she gets a call from Regina inviting her to the dinner. She pushes a bit. Katherine goes back to the office with Hunter and invites him to the party. Delilah tells Eddie about Maggie. They talk about losing people and his new place. She can’t lose anyone else. They kiss.

He steps back a few moments later. They can’t do this again. It’s bad enough lying and saying the baby is Jon’s. They look at each other. Maggie is home when someone knocks. It’s Rome looking to take her to the tasting party. He asks again about the boxes and she admits she’s packing her stuff up so her parents won’t have to. He steps in and tapes a box. Then he tells her. She may not have been able to save the person she mentioned, but she saved him.

The guests are arriving for the tasting party. Rome comes back and he’s got Maggie with him. Katherine and Hunter roll up and Rome taunts Eddie about it. Eddie is the bigger man and goes over to say hello. Gary and Ashley share a smile before Eddie comes over to apologize. They make up. Eddie admits he’s reluctant on the lease and Gary says he’s welcome for as long as he needs. Gary’s phone rings. It says it’s Rome but it’s Maggie. She tries to talk to him but he says that if everyone else knew she was refusing treatment they would be upset.

Maggie tells him that they all know and he freaks out. He starts yelling at everyone and then yells at Maggie about Chad. She tells him that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He says that he doesn’t know her and then leaves. Ashley is a few steps behind. They talk and eventually decide to get a drink together. Katherine apologizes to Hunter and admits she used him to make Eddie jealous. If they went out for real, it would be for the right reasons.

Eddie and Delilah talk for a minute before she starts walking to her car. Katherine goes back and kisses Hunter. Delilah watches Eddie as she gets in the car. Rome drives Maggie home and she tells him the story. Chad was her brother. He was 19 and had been drinking. She went to the movies with her friends instead of staying home to potentially stop Chad from driving. Chad needed her and she wasn’t there. Rome asks if that’s why she won’t save herself. She gets out of the car but not before making plans for Friday.

Katherine went back inside and she has a drink and some cake with Regina. She finds out Delilah is pregnant and panics. Regina assures her it’s Jon’s baby. After their drink, Gary brought Ashley back to his place. They are kissing. Maggie is home alone. She drops a glass and then falls. Gary pulls back. Ashley asks if everything is okay. He kisses her again. Maggie is in the plane with her brother. He tells her she couldn’t have saved him. The skies clear and it’s smooth sailing again but this is where Chad leaves her. He grabs a parachute and opens the cargo door.

How long until Eddie moves in with Delilah? Also, she has kids. Where are they. And who was watching Theo during the dinner? Also it seems like except Katherine no one even has a job.

A Million Little Things, episode seven

So Gary still has a clock radio so music wakes he and Maggie up. They goof around and then she starts complaining about the morning show therapist. He tells her to call and complain since she doesn’t have a lot of time left anyway. Regina is paranoid about Rome now. Danny is texting away making arcade plans with his crush. He’s also consulting Gary for advice. Delilah seems a little put out until she gets a call from Regina who can’t come to her ultrasound because she wants to stay home with Rome because he’s got some stomach pain.

Eddie has good feeling because the club guy was into his set. He heads down there to talk it out. Maggie calls into the radio show but it’s not as rewarding as she though. Katherine is at work and gets a fair bit of praise from one of her colleagues. Rome is still in pain and calls Maggie to see if it’s his meds. She doesn’t think it is. He collapses though and Regina runs in. Maggie is still on the phone and tells Regina to take him to the hospital. Maggie then calls Gary and tells him to go to the hospital.

In the treatment room, the doctor asks Rome some questions and Regina keeps jumping. The doctor asks her to leave and in the waiting room she runs into Maggie who fills her in on the protocols. The doctor wants to give him something to drink to absorb any drugs. She needs Regina’s all clear and gets it. Eddie gets a call from the club guy. Another artist wants to record his song. Eddie says no. The drink is horrible and Rome is still in pain but Gary tells him to keep drinking. Maggie tries to justify not telling Regina what she knew but it doesn’t go well.

Delilah is comforting Regina who tells her to go to her ultrasound. Eddie concurs and takes her. She’s not happy for him to be there but he stays anyway. While Gary and Maggie are at lunch, Regina calls with an update. It’s a kidney stone and he’s trying to pass it. Regina gets passive aggressive about Maggie until Rome says talking to her would make it real. He passes the stone and they hug it out. Maggie and Gary take their dare competition to the next level and sing in the ramen restaurant. Eddie and Delilah see their baby and hear its heartbeat. He has to walk out.

After their impromptu gig, Gary and Maggie are heading out. He notices she has a new bruise and realizes that this is real. She has cancer. He doesn’t know if he can do it. She dares him to try. Eddie tells Delilah that whatever happened because of what they did, they also created a life. He goes by the bar and sells his song to the other singer. He makes no move to hide his disdain about having to do that either. Rome signs himself out and is ready to go.

Regina isn’t though. She’s still playing catch up on all of this even though everyone else knows. She needs time. Danny is all set for his arcade date but Gary calms him down. Katherine is still at work when her colleague stops by to just see her. Her assistant tells her to live in the moment and be present and have fun. Gary has to finish a dare for Maggie before he takes Danny. She shows up to see it and he painted a billboard, conquering his fears and breaking some laws. She’s here for it. She is not here for his dare back. Get chemo.

While waiting for Danny’s friend they talk about friendship and fears. Then the other kid shows up and Danny is smitten and they run off. Rome asks Regina out on a date. Eddie and Theo spend some time together. Danny seems interested in coming out to Delilah but hesitates. She’s looking at baby pictures and he asks why. She doesn’t tell him. They share a laugh. Gary is eating out alone when Katherine and her co-worker come in. Maggie is home alone looking at her bruises and crying. Rome and Regina get ready to go out. Katherine walks over to see Gary. He tells her that she deserves to be happy. Maggie is still alone but she’s not crying anymore.

The whole Maggie thing really pisses me off. She can’t have her cake and eat it too. I am glad that Gary was nice to Katherine. He isn’t my favorite but he’s the best part of this show. He’s the glue in this whole thing. I understand why Eddie doesn’t want to sell his song to the other guy but they should work out a deal if he can keep writing stuff.
