The Good Doctor, episode eighteen

Murphy is in a bar at 10 in the morning. Because he misses social cues, he ends in a bar fight. He’s on the floor when the other guy loses his balance and falls backward. He hits his head and starts bleeding. Lim and Melendez meet with someone from HR about their relationship. An ambulance brings in a patient. It’s the guy that hit his head. Murphy is still in the ambulance. Browne goes and gets him. He tells her he found the man like that.

Lim comes into the ER as Melendez looks at the patient. They have the all clear. They kiss. Reznick and Park are going over a patient post-op. She has some swelling so they want to keep her for one more day to check her over. Andrews and Han talk about Murphy. The first time he was given responsibility, he failed. Murphy is sitting in the hall when Browne joins him and tries to give him a pep talk. They talk about love and he tells her that he doesn’t know how. She tells him that he will and he’ll get hurt. It’s part of life.

Glassman and his coffee cart ex talk about the fact that he is cancer free. He proposes and she tells him she just wanted a relationship. She thinks this is stupid. Park and Reznick are with the post-op again. She seems alright so they tell her she is going home. Then she tells them she lost feeling in her fingers. Browne and Murphy go over the labs for the guy from the bar. Murphy says that he should be showing signs of intoxication otherwise he has a neuro disorder. Browne realizes he lied earlier and he runs away.

Park thinks the old woman is just lonely and wants to send her home. Melendez tells him to run some tests. Murphy is in the bathroom. He has a huge bruise on his ribs. He coughs up blood and takes it to the lab for tests. Carly runs it for him. Park and Reznick talk to the older woman. Park admits he thinks it’s a waste of time and she tells him off. Carly tracks down Murphy and gives him the lab results and a prescription. Park and Reznick go back to the old lady. Her labs look good but there is green discharge in her drain.

Murphy goes back to see the guy that beat him up and checks his chart. He sees that they are wrong. Murphy rants that he just wants his job back. Glassman had gotten him an interview. Then he tells the guy that they need to treat him for “trampoline” before passing out. Murphy is admitted for his severe injuries. Lim and Browne get his case. Han and Andrews fight about Murphy. Park figures something else out. He goes in to see the old woman and checks the drain. She’s been pouring her veggie smoothies into it. She’ll be discharged.

Browne goes to see the bar bully and he tells her what Murphy said just before he crashes. They manage to stabilize him. Browne talks to Melendez about waking Murphy to find out what he meant. He isn’t interested. They discuss possible diagnoses with Lim and settle on Lyme disease. Browne sits with the guy trying to visualize like Murphy did. Meanwhile, Glassman and Leah with Murphy. Browne realizes what Murphy meant. They save the day and when Murphy wakes up and asks Browne tells him what happened.

Reznick and Park discharge the old woman. Andrews has a talk with Murphy about moving on. The board has a meeting and Glassman gives a speech in support of Murphy. Then Andrews fires Han. Melendez goes to see Lim in her office. They talk about the need for a new chief of surgery. There will be an opening and it’ll have to be one of them. They can’t be each other’s boss though. Melendez resigned and the gig is Lim’s. Leah gets home to find Murphy in a suit. He’s got flowers. He has a question for her. Does he look nice? She tells him he does and he leaves. Glassman goes to see Debby the ex and proposes again. She says yes. Murphy asks out Carly and she also agrees.

Lim and Park live happily ever after and I am done with this show. Woot woot.

The Good Doctor, episode seventeen

Leah gets home in the morning and finds Murphy in the kitchen. He never went to bed. He’s still trying to find a way to get out of pathology. He decides to walk to work. At the hospital, Lim and Melendez are kissing in his car. When she sees Murphy, she tells Melendez to drive so they don’t get spotted. Aoki, Melendez and his team are presenting a medical case that is innovative to the board and a bunch of doctors. Han is in a meeting of his own.

He goes to see the team that is reviewing the doctors. He basically threatens them. Lim updates an infant patient’s mother. Turns out the mom is a friend of hers so she wants the labs rushed. She tries to talk to Murphy about whether or not he saw anything but he’s distracted. Glassman meets with Blaze. He’s just playing a waiting game and it’s getting to him. Browne comes into the lab to get blood and other supplies for the big surgery. Murphy hears about it and wants to help but Browne shuts him down. Lim tells Melendez that Murphy saw them. He’s not convinced but then they get called to Han’s office.

It’s not about their relationship. He actually tells them that the investigation has been called off so they are not being punished. In the lab, Carly tells Murphy that the baby’s injuries are consistent with abuse. They tell Lim and she decides to order more tests before they muck up this woman’s life. Melendez pulls Murphy aside as he’s prepping to approach Han again. They talk about the former’s relationship status. It seems Murphy didn’t see him and Lim. Browne wants to do something to fight for Murphy and she talks about it with Reznick and Park while they do an MRI of the 200 pound tumor they are going to remove.

Neither of them is willing to help and then they get distracted by what the scans show. Lim talks to the mom Laura about the test results. Laura is adamant that she didn’t abuse her baby. Melendez tells his patient that the tumor has grown. The surgery would kill him. The guy wants to try it anyway. Murphy eats dinner with Leah and talks about work. She tells him it sounds like a good job. He walks away. Lim and Melendez go out for drinks and talk about whether or not they should go public. They are both hesitant.

Glassman has a meltdown about waiting. He can’t take it anymore. Browne and Park are chatting about Reznick after work when Browne gets an idea. Reznick is still at the hospital doing research, which is really just staying late so that Han sees her. He does and he tells her to go home but that’s when Park and Browne come back in. The next morning the team presents their new idea to the patient and he is on board. Lim has to call in child services for Laura but she maintains she didn’t hurt her baby. They start the surgery. Glassman goes to Blaze and she tells him to wait it out.

Murphy observes the major surgery and gets an idea about the baby. He rushes out to retest the sample. The big surgery runs into some complications. Han wants to cut their loses and pack it in but Melendez wants to call in Murphy instead. Just as he proves to Lim that Laura didn’t abuse her baby, Browne comes running in to take him to the OR. He consults and finds a way to save the day. Then he’s relegated to the sidelines again. Glassman finds out he is cancer-free and gives Blaze a touching gift.

The surgery wraps. It’s a success. Lim tries to apologize to Laura but she doesn’t accept it. She tells Lim that she will never understand because she doesn’t commit to anything. Even when she was married she didn’t. She doesn’t understand love. The team tells the tumor guy that the surgery was a success. Lim finds Melendez and takes him to see Andrews. They are going public. Murphy goes to see Han again and is stubborn and emotional about getting his job back. Han fires him instead. In the locker room, Murphy melts down. Browne finds him and sits with him.

No but for real after the finale, I’m done with this show. I’m actually thrilled that it’s the finale. I want Lim and Melendez to live happily ever after. That’s it. I don’t care about any of the rest of them. I’m over it.

The Good Doctor, episode sixteen

Murphy gets up and gets ready for work. Leah made him pancakes because it’s a big life event day. He isn’t happy about his new job so he doesn’t eat the pancakes. Browne, Reznick and Melendez get a reverend with a spinal tumor. He doesn’t want the first part of the surgery that would ease his pain. He feels the pain is punishment because he killed someone. Glassman rings a bell. He’s done chemo. Park and Lim get a mountain climber with numb extremities. At first, they say dehydration but then she talks about a sense of dread. Lim humors her and orders a scan and some blood tests.

At the hospital, Murphy makes his way to pathology. He’s anxious but after a tour he starts to settle in. Browne wants to call their patient crazy because of his religion but Reznick won’t let that happen. Browne comes up with a loophole. If he dies on the table he won’t have time for penance. Lim and Park do a brain scan on the climber. She has a tumor and it looks like it could be malignant. Browne talks to the reverend. He is decided in his faith. He also tells her what happened. He was helping a man with depression and skipped one call to have a drink.

The man killed himself and now the reverend blames himself. Murphy is working when Park comes in. He tries to find out if Murphy is happy. Murphy takes a break instead. Lim goes to Han to plead Murphy’s case but gets nowhere. The reverend crashes during surgery. They can’t get the tumor and she tells him that. He expects them to try again but she tells him they won’t. Murphy runs tests and catches something on Lim’s patient. He wants to follow the case through but that’s not how pathology works.

Browne takes a stab at pleading Murphy’s case but Han shuts her down. Glassman goes for a muffin and asks his ex out. She declines. She’s seeing someone. Melendez tries the surgery again. They get the tumor and measure it. It’s much smaller than the scans showed. Murphy meets with Lim to explain what he thinks. Then he asks to talk to the patient but she tells him no. She also advices against seeing Han himself. Melendez, Reznick and Browne don’t know what shrunk the tumor so they don’t know how to treat the reverend. They’ll have to just keep monitioring him.

Murphy is having an episode at home. Leah calls Glassman for help and he tells Murphy to stand up for himself. Murphy goes to the hospital and snoops in the patient’s room while she’s asleep. He gets caught and reprimanded by Han. Then he explains his theory which Han can see is a good idea. He won’t let Murphy get involved with the patient though. Reznick and Browne tell the patient what happened and that they will run tests to figure it out. Glassman gets a visit from his ex. She isn’t really seeing anyone but tells him they can’t be together.

The test have all come back clean. Browne and the reverend talk about God’s plan and faith and a higher power until he agrees to have the surgery for his pain. They go through with it and have no problems. Han biopsied the climber’s tumor. He looks at it in pathology and then asks Murphy to come with him. They tell the woman that they were wrong. Murphy was right. The woman has a worm in her brain. They can remove it with a surgery. Afterward, Murphy stands up for himself but it doesn’t work. Han figures this proved his point. Murphy can do more work in pathology. The reverend is doing well. Murphy watches the worm surgery.

Why am I watching this show? I really don’t care about any of them except Lim and maybe Reznick. We know he’s not staying in pathology. Han will also probably get fired so that there can be more Lim and Melendez tension.

The Good Doctor, episode fifteen

A woman gets a c-section. Lim takes the baby out and then rushes her into surgery. Andrews gets some flack from Aoki because his newly hired chief ditched his own welcome brunch. Lim is having some trouble with the surgery on the newborn. She calls for the neonatal surgeon to be paged. That’s when someone from the gallery interrupts. It’s the new chief, Han. He scrubs in, puts on some music and then starts quizzing people. They need time to plan so he does a short term fix for now. Afterward, he runs into Melendez and recruits him to do a full workup on his rich friend.

Melendez isn’t happy but he does it. Glassman heads in for chemo and meets someone that wants to be his cancer buddy. Glassman isn’t interested. Melendez has Reznick and Park running tons of tests. Turns out they aren’t all pointless. He’s got a tumor. Murphy does a check on the baby. She’s stable and he tells her parents as much. Her mother wants to know what caused the defects. She mentions the antidepressant that she was on and he tells her that they could have done it. Melendez tells the patient about the tumor and that they will need a biopsy.

Browne, Lim and Murphy are trying to come up with a strategy when Han comes in. He talked to the parents and he’s pissed at Murphy. Their conversation makes it clear that Murphy’s bedside manner is lacking. Lim gets on Han for the public scoldings. He doesn’t really care and he’s not pro-Murphy. Reznick and Park meet Han for the first time. He’s his usual not charming self. Lim warns Murphy to steer clear of Han as best he can. Then the baby crashes.

They scramble to stabilize her and they do for the moment but they need a fix. Melendez tells his patient that he either needs a surgery that might kill him or he leaves the tumor in and it might kill him. No guarantees on either end. Glassman wraps up treatment and throws up. His new buddy tries to be there for him. Lim and Han talk about what to do. They need something now. Murphy makes a pitch and it would work for the heart but inhibit the other issues.

Glassman is at chemo. The young guy comes in and blows Glassman’s mind. Melendez talks to his patient. He wants the surgery. Lim and Han talk to the parents. Doing this surgery on her heart will prolong her life but it may be bad quality. She may starve to death because of the other issues. The parents don’t agree on what to do so Lim and Han go to Andrews. He defers to Han who votes surgery. Murphy gets lunch with Glassman. Studies show that cancer patients with cancer buddies do better.

Han and Lim tell the parents that they are going for the surgery and take the baby in. Melendez and his team are in the OR as well. Surgeries are well underway. Both run into complications. Ultimately the surgery on the baby won’t save her. The humane thing to do would be to turn off the machines. Han and Browne tell the parents as much. They eventually agree. In the OR. Lim suggests they take a moment and when they do, Murphy figures out a solution. They have a chance. Glassman goes back to the chemo room and makes friends.

Melendez tells his patient they got the tumor. They had to muck up some nerves though so now he’ll have a limp. Lim, Han, Browne and Murphy bring the baby in to see her parents. The new fix worked. She’s got a few surgeries to come but she should recover. Melendez gets the biopsy results back. He doesn’t look at them though because they don’t matter. When he leaves the room, Reznick and Park run over to check them. Murphy is waiting for the bus when Han comes out. He’s switching Murphy to pathology so he doesn’t have to interact with patients.

Okay so Han is a tool. I am quitting this show at the end of the season. I can’t deal with it. Han is awful. I don’t like Browne. I don’t like Murphy. I like Lim and maybe Reznick and Andrews. That’s it though.

The Good Doctor, episode fourteen

Glassman wakes up in bed with Murphy watching over him. He called out to sit with Glassman. Andrews is explaining a tricky facial reconstruction surgery to a patient that his been around before. Browne is in for the surgery too and they head to prep. A little girl that was in a car accident came in by ambulance. She has a number of issues but heart trumps head for the time being. Lim, Melendez, Reznick and Park are all working on her. Glassman is bored and sends Murphy to pick up his medicine. The girl crashes. Murphy comes back.

The medication is marijuana and since he’s on vacation, Glassman allows Murphy to take one. Reflex tests show that the girl is brain dead. Murphy and Glassman are playing putt putt and making a mess of the house. Lim tells the mother that her daughter is brain dead. Glassman and Murphy talk about Leah and Jake. Melendez assures Lim that she made the right call just as the munchies hit the high doctors. They are going to venture out for mallomars. Andrews goes to see the mother about organ donation. He wants her face. The mom says no.

Browne is wheeling her patient around. The other mother sees her. Glassman and Murphy are coming up empty in their ride-share quest for cookies but the driver has a better idea. Andrews breaks the news that the mother agreed to the transplant. They are matched in every way possible. Andrews rallies the whole staff. They have to beat the clock on this one. With no luck on the cookies, the new adventure is to find the girl Glassman had a crush on but there is no luck there either. Browne talks the patient through some obvious jitters.

No luck on the girl, but he knows someone that might know. They head to his old high school where the janitor knows everyone and what they did and where they are. He knows that Glassman was an all star athlete. It’s time for the surgery and the donor and her mother get the walk of honor as she is taken in for surgery. After a bit of yearbook searching, Murphy finds that the crush is in Portland. Glassman says to gas up the car. Surgery starts. They make it through step one and the donor is taken off life support.

The ride share driver tells Glassman that he’s going to regret this when he sobers up. He agrees that he probably will. It’s time for phase two and Lim makes a minor mistake pretty early on. Andrews sends her and Browne on a break. The driver gets to the now married woman’s house and Glassman admits he was a jerk to her at graduation. Browne introduces the two sets of parents. The donor’s mother thinks that this was all her fault. Melendez finds Lim on her break and is sending her back in. She tells him that he’s getting to her.

He isn’t fighting her because they are sleeping together. The father of the recipient relates to the other mother. It was his gun that his daughter was hurt with in the first place. Glassman knocks on the door and the woman answers. He apologizes though she doesn’t remember. She accepts the apology all the same and gives them some cookies, mallomars. The transplant seems to be working. They need to check on motor function next. Glassman and company hit the road and the woman immediately pulls out her yearbook. She crossed out his message.

The girl wakes up and it takes a few minutes but she eventually looks in a mirror. It will take some getting used to. Lim and Melendez talk about their relationship. They have to stop second guessing at work. The donor mother comes in to see the recipient. She talks for a few minutes and then asks a favor. She wants to say goodbye and the girl lets her. Glassman and Murphy get home. Glassman admits he still feels guilty but he wouldn’t change anything. Murphy admits that he’s not okay with Leah having a boyfriend.

I have so many issues with this show to begin with. This episode made it worse. The two storylines were so different. It felt like a disservice to the transplant storyline to jump to the other one. Team Lim.

The Good Doctor, episode thirteen

Murphy gets up and finds Leah’s boyfriend Jake in the kitchen. They have an awkward encounter until Leah comes out and sends Jake back to her room. Murphy tells her that he likes Jake and she tries to figure out if he means that and then tests the waters on Jake spending more time at the apartment. Murphy ducks out to pick up Glassman for his chemo. Glassman is slow to get up and smacks himself and seems off. He tells Murphy he’s feeling better though.

Park is at the hospital when he gets a call. It’s his ex-wife/current girlfriend Mia. He tells Browne that they are giving it another go and she is a supportive colleague. They get a patient with no heartbeat but blood circulation. Turns out she has a mechanical heart. Murphy, Reznick and Lim get a new patient too. It’s a woman with a heart problem. She has a male friend there with her for support but he is just her roommate not her boyfriend.

Melendez talks to his patient’s daughter. Her heart device was implanted in China. She hands the contact information off. Reznick doesn’t believe that a man and woman can just be roommates. Murphy says that he is just friends with Leah and Jake but Reznick tells him that they want to be a couple and not spend time with him. Lim is in the elevator when Melendez gets in. They flirt and Andrews gets in and comments that they seem to be getting along.

Lim also helps by translating the call to China. While they are on the phone, a woman comes in. Her mother is the patient. Melendez tells her to talk to her sister but she doesn’t have a sister. The woman that came in is just a close friend. She and the mother are so close that when people confuse them for mother and daughter they don’t correct them. Reznick tries to talk to the patient about her test results but since she doesn’t get a response she assumes she isn’t getting through.

Murphy tries too but it isn’t until her friend comes back that she speaks. Park introduces the two daughters and they bicker until Melendez shows up and says that the woman is being flown to China for surgery. Murphy is keeping Glassman company, though he probably doesn’t want it. He ends up snapping at Murphy. The daughter interrupts her mother and the other woman. It sets her mother off and she crashes. Park calls a code. Reznick talks to her patient. She’s nervous about surgery and wants to have sex with her friend to calm down.

Speaking of, Leah and Jake are in bed together when Murphy knocks on the door. He’s ready for movie night. Leah tries to tell him it’s not a good time but he is persistent and she relents. Lim and Reznick tell their patient that she can’t do anything to elevate her blood pressure so sex is off the table. Reznick can’t wrap her head around that. Park tells the daughters that the mother is on life support and they are trying to figure out what to do next. She can’t fly to China.

The surgery is more difficult than Lim first thought. Murphy suggests keeping her awake and Lim is on board. Park talks to the daughter. She thought her mother was bitter and alone. It hurts more to know she is caring, just not with her. Her mother crashes again. They need to do something now. Murphy and Reznick try to talk to the roommate about helping in the OR. Murphy is making progress but when Reznick gets pushy about love it falls through. Browne comes up with a fix for the mechanical heart.

They print a piece for the machine on the 3D printer. Murphy goes to see Glassman and finds him in a bad way. Glassman admits he’s been lying about symptoms and Murphy melts down. Glassman tells him to leave because he’s not helping. During surgery, Melendez finds more issues and works with Park and Browne to sort them out. Leah and Murphy talk about Glassman. She tells him he’s trying too hard. He tells her that she makes his life better and she tells him the same.

Melendez does work on the woman’s heart and fixes the issues. Murphy is having trouble getting their patient to talk. Lim tries to explain how important that is but she still doesn’t. Then her roommate shows up to help. Park comes out and updates both women. Then he spends a few extra moments talking to the daughter. Things are still tough in the other surgery until the roommate turns to bug trivia. Then they settle in. The other woman tells the mother to talk to her daughter.

The daughter comes in and apologizes for everything. As she leaves, her mother speaks. She did go see her daughter sing. She still cares. The other patient wakes up. She and her roommate admit they are in love. Murphy leaves the room. At home, he sits alone in his room and when he hears Leah giggling, he puts on noise cancelling headphones. He goes to Glassman’s house and finds him passed out on the bathroom floor. Murphy sits with him.

Lim. Maybe Melendez. I want to quit this show. I really don’t even care about anyone else on this show at all. I am definitely quitting after this season.

The Good Doctor, episode twelve

Everyone is getting up and going through their routine to start their days. Browne is running. Reznick does some yoga. Park boxes and Leah dances. Murphy gets up and finds Leah dancing. She’s surprised to see him up and about. He’s been through an ordeal so he should be doing something out of the apartment. Andrews is dealing with the political fallout. The CDC cleared them but the local side are less interested. Lim gets a visit from Melendez but she shuns him pretty quickly.

Browne is strumming away on her guitar when she gets a call. It’s Reznick. She wants to brunch. Browne doesn’t buy it but Reznick pushes and she relents. Park and his son say goodbye to his ex. Park follows her out and invites her to stay the whole week with their son. She says no but after a few moments offers to stay for the day. Murphy goes to the hospital to visit Glassman. It’s been a lot of hospital time.

Glassman is done. He’s leaving. Murphy tries to stop him and then just decides to tag along. He gets a call. It’s Leah inviting him to have lunch. He says no because Glassman isn’t interested in tagging along. When he finds out Murphy isn’t going to go then, he changes his mind. Andrews gets grief from the governor’s office because he’s serving as both president and chief of surgery. After a phone call, Browne cancels brunch. They’ve been arguing and now her mom is being evicted.

She doesn’t have time for this. Reznick admits that Tyler’s death hit her hard and that’s why she wants plans. She’s going to help Browne’s mom pack. Aoki agrees with the governor about Andrew’s dual roles. As they pick lunch foods, Leah and Glassman snark. As they help her pack, Reznick tries to chat and it becomes apparent Browne’s mother is hiding something. They push and she reveals she was living with a guy that beat her and now she’s taking off to get away from him.

Park and his ex are playing mini golf and chatting. She tries to approach more serious topics and he shuts her down. This is why they divorced. Every conversation is pulling teeth. He never keeps her informed or involved. Reznick finds a pay stub with an address. She wants to teach the guy a lesson and since she’s got a permitted handgun she figures she can wave that around.

They go to the guy’s house and now Browne wants to take the lead because she doesn’t trust Reznick. Leah, Murphy and Glassman are still at odds. Melendez goes to see Lim again. He tells her that she is making things weird so he’s done. Park tries to talk to his ex about getting back together. She is not interested. During their chat with the guy, Browne finds out that he didn’t beat her mother.

He proposed and she’s ghosting him. Andrew’s chat with the politician doesn’t go well. She plans to recommend Murphy, Lim and Melendez’s licenses be suspended. Leah’s grand plan is go carts. It definitely cheers her and Glassman up. Andrews breaks the news to Lim and Melendez about what happened. He also Aoki about it. Browne’s mom talks to her boyfriend. As the go carts wind down, Glassman starts to act funny. He tells them that he’s great though.

Andrews makes a plea to bureaucrat to no avail. Lim talks to Melendez in his office. They want to be together but because they will be under a microscope they’ll have to keep it secret. Browne thanks Reznick for her help. She’s there for her and she owes her one. They’re growing. Glassman is going to try a more aggressive chemo because he wants more good days like this. Murphy is happy about that. He’s also happy being Leah’s friend because she doesn’t want to be more.

Park packs up the car for his ex and she heads out. She gets to the end of the block and comes back. Maybe they should try to slowly test the waters. She’ll come back in a few weeks on her own. He’s here for it. Murphy gets home and wants to try a beer. He notices that there is a bottle on the table. It’s Leah’s date’s. Murphy doesn’t seem happy about that. Park and his son watch movies. Melendez gives Lim a ride when she’s released. Murphy contemplates the beer.

Lim. Maybe Andrews. Occasionally Reznick and Melendez. That’s it. I have no use for the rest of these people.

The Good Doctor, episode eleven

Murphy is in the midst of an attack. In his head he’s going over his bus ride to work. There is a nurse trying to rouse him so that he can help Reznick in surgery. Yelling doesn’t work. Reznick tells her to walk him through the surgery. That does the trick. Upstairs, Browne and Melendez ignore a DNR to revive a patient. They need to wrap up so he can talk to Andrews.

Park broke the quarantine to help his son. Reznick talks to Andrews about a plan. The CDC is suggesting what they’ve been doing. It might work because they were ahead of things. Glassman comes out and Leah is waiting for him. He tells her there is no news yet. She figures that’s a good sign. It’s not. It’s a bad sign.. They head to the hospital. Melendez and Andrews brainstorm about how to do the marrow transplant. A closet in the basement is their best chance.

Reznick and Park have Murphy updating them on the patients. The buzzing is still there though so Park breaks the light. It works. Murphy is back and now Viola’s water is broken. They are hoping to keep her from active labor. She and Park’s son talk about having parent who is there. Reznick talks to Lim. The latter is starting to reflect on her life. She seems to be willing to die.

Things have calmed down but Park and his son are still at odds. It’s almost time for the marrow transplant so Park is looking for someone to help him from the waiting room. One woman is a retired vet so she gets the job. Lim is crashing. Reznick calls Andrews for help. Viola is having the baby and Murphy will have to deliver it. Melendez keeps yelling at Park to hurry up. Viola’s delivery is problematic.

She starts hemorrhaging and Murphy will have to operate. Reznick wraps things and just stares off. Melendez goes to scrub in and wait for the marrow. Leah and Glassman are at odds about whether or not to tell Murphy about his tumor. Park wraps up and sends the marrow through the garbage chute to Melendez. It’s a success but now his patient is crashing because the IV broke off and now there is plastic in his heart.

Murphy delivers the baby and it needs CPR. While he’s doing that Viola crashes. He can’t save both so he calls Park’s son in to help. The son takes the baby while Murphy works on Viola. Park can’t revive his patient so he sets up to crack his chest instead. Murphy keeps working on both. Reznick calls Andrews for an update and ends up with Melendez. Leah is trying to comfort another family member when Glassman shuts her up. They listen carefully and can hear the baby.

Both Viola and the baby are okay. Then sirens go off. It’s Lim. Reznick goes running and Lim is sitting there awake and in need of water. The quarantine is over. Families are reunited and the marrow transplant was a success. The donor, the patient’s father, didn’t survive though. Park talks to his son. They have a moment about him trying to be a better father. Later, his ex-wife shows up and they head out together. Melendez goes to see Lim. He’ll wait for her. Leah and Glassman catch up with Murphy. He asks about the doctor’s visit and Glassman tells him the truth. They head out to get breakfast.

Why am I still watching this show? I like Lim. Reznick is growing on me. I like Andrews. Otherwise I really don’t care about any of them. That’s not a good thing.

The Good Doctor, episode ten

Melendez wakes up in bed with Lim. It was great and neither regrets it but they can’t do it again. She heads to work. Murphy gets to work and seems confused by the fact that the music that’s playing. Lim tells him they’ve got two ambulances coming in. First in is a man. They aren’t sure what’s wrong with him but he’s in a lot of trouble. Next is a woman. Both came to the hospital from the airport. Murphy thinks the woman has deep vein thrombosis. He treats her and then rushes to help Lim. It’s too late though. The man dies. Murphy points out that both have a rash which may be linked to the man’s death.

The woman, Maryanne, is quarantined and Murphy and Lim talk to her about the man and the flight. This virus might be airborne. It might be a much bigger issue. Melendez, Browne and Park have a bone marrow transplant on the docket for the following day. They check in with the patient and he’s in good spirits. He’s also having a heart attack and doesn’t know it so things move up a day. Lim updates Andrews. He’s going to call the CDC and the state.

The paramedic, Tyler, knows Reznick and got her called in case this grows to something. In the meantime she’s got a mall Santa with digestive issues. Tyler has the beginnings of the rash. While they talk, Maryanne crashes. She dies shortly thereafter. Park meets his son outside the hospital. He’s there to visit but doesn’t seem happy. Tyler is quarantined. They have locked down the ER. Everyone inside has to stay. No one new coming in. Lim makes excuses with the patients inside to keep them around. Park’s son winds up in the waiting room so he’s stuck too.

Melendez blasts his transplant patient with radiation. They are waiting for his donor to show up. Reznick does a check-up on Tyler. They banter about a date. He’s got a fever. The virus is spreading. Lim talks to Andrews and makes the quarantine official. She tells everyone in the waiting room and they freak out. Andrews gives a press conference. Browne is worried about the doctors. Lim finds out his son is on the inside and goes running down. Lim, Reznick and Murphy are trying to figure out treatment for their other patients with limited resources.

Murphy is distracted by a buzzing light in the ceiling but as the brainstorm, a nurse helps them out. Park talks to his son who is scared. Lim and Murphy treat Santa while Reznick checks in with Tyler. More flirting ensues but he’s getting worse. Leah picks up Glassman for his treatment. Park stands in the hall near the quarantine. A man comes charging in. His pregnant wife is inside. She reveals that they are having a boy to distract him. It works.

Santa is back on his feet and comforts the woman after her husband walks away. When the quarantine was announced, one man got too rowdy and Lim had to knock him out. Now his phone is ringing so Murphy answers it. It’s Browne. The phone belongs to the marrow donor. Andrews gets an update about the CDC. It’s not good. Melendez wants to go in to get the marrow but Andrews is not letting it happen. Tyler is the only one currently infected but he’s getting worse. Melendez tells his patient they found a potential donor and that the CDC will be in town the next day to test the donor.

The guy doesn’t care. He wants a DNR. He doesn’t want to do this again. After the latest check on Tyler, Reznick is desperate to help. Lim takes things from bad to worse. She’s got the rash now too. Melendez and Browne talk. She suggests another crazy plan. Send the marrow patient into the quarantine for the transplant. Melendez heads in to talk to Andrews. Tyler and Lim are talking when he crashes. He dies a few minutes later.

Murphy is sitting in the waiting room when another man comes over to complain about his insulin levels. Murphy is about to give him another small dose when Santa comes over and pukes on him. The obstruction is back. Santa needs surgery. Murphy and Reznick plot out how to do it with Lim. They start the surgery. Melendez goes in to talk to Andrews about the transplant plan. He sees that Lim is in isolation and is upset. Then he gets a call. His patient is crashing. He ignores the DNR and treats him.

Reznick and Murphy are doing the surgery when the guy with low blood sugar passes out. He goes to treat him and can’t focus because of the light. Glassman got imaging and is taking the files to Blaize. He peaks at them and sees that his tumor is back. Park’s son starts to hyperventilate. Murphy doesn’t do anything though. He just stares at the light. Lim is talking Reznick through the surgery. Reznick asks a question and looks over to see Lim passed out. Glassman and Leah sit on the steps of the imaging center. Murphy curls up on the floor and covers his ears.

I really want to quit this. It’s just so ridiculous. Every part of it. And if they kill off Lim that’s even worse. She’s the only good one.

The Good Doctor, episode nine

Glassman is in the waiting room playing with a yo-yo when Murphy comes in. He wants Glassman’s license because of his memory issues. Murphy talked to Blaize and will go to the DMV if he has to. Glassman relents. Melendez, Reznick and Browne get a patient that may be having a stroke. He’s on medication that may have caused this. Murphy and Park get a patient with a collapsed lung and a busted eye. He also has a dent in his forehead that Park wants to fix. Murphy doesn’t. It’s pre-existing and not medically necessary.

Melendez and his team are running tests. They don’t know why he’s taking the drugs because there is no sign of the condition he mentioned. Park tries to talk to Murphy about the surgery but Murphy doesn’t budge. Reznick and Browne talk to their patient, George. He admits that he lied and takes the drugs to control his sex drive. Aoki tells Andrews that he needs to pick a new chief of surgery. She gives him two days. Browne comes over to find that George signed himself out. She turns to Reznick and says that the only reason he would be on this drug is if they were deviant urges. They may have just let a child predator walk.

At lunch, the residents bet on who Andrews will name and then talk about the importance of empathy until Reznick gets an alert that George is back. Severe lacerations to the scrotum. Browne asks if he did it to himself. He admits he has urges with kids and asks Browne to finish the job. She and Reznick take the matter to Melendez and Andrews observes as they discuss it. Reznick wants to cut his balls off but Browne wants to refer him to psych. Melendez agrees with Browne and Andrews thinks it is the right call.

Park is talking to their patient about his life while he gets the MRI. Park figures he’s scared. He’s not though. He’s got a problem in his diaphragm and needs emergency surgery. During the surgery they talk about fixing his forehead but Lim says no because of risks and costs. Andrews is observing. Browne and Reznick explain the treatment plan to George. He’s going to leave against medical advice again. Murphy talks to Glassman who is pissed at him.

Taking his license took away his freedom. He doesn’t expect Murphy to understand. Lim goes to Melendez about going to see Andrews so he backs off. Park and Murphy’s patient Billy is back in his room. He asks about the forehead surgery and Park breaks the news that they can’t do it. Billy seems upset and mentions that it happened when his father hit him. Reznick and Browne talk about George.

Murphy is learning to drive from Leah. Reznick and Browne are talking to Melendez. He turns and kicks Andrews out using Lim’s phrasing. Murphy has a meltdown behind the wheel. At the hospital, Browne pitches falsifying records but Melendez says no. They can’t castrate George until his testes are beyond repair. Park is still pushing for the forehead surgery and Murphy suggests an implant. Lim agrees. Browne is going to do her surgery. Reznick has her back. Lim confronts Melendez about using her argument. He doesn’t want to help the hospital. He just wants the title.

Lim tells him off for underestimating her and heads out. George is septic. He can’t have surgery until they sort that. Billy is crashing as well. While both ORs scramble, Aoki tells Andrews that he has to make a decision. Both patients stabilize. Park seems hesitant. Melendez also sees that George’s body can’t function without testosterone. They need to save his testicles. Murphy and Leah compare driving to surgery. He’s got it.

Browne and Reznick break the news to George. He’s got to do it their way or he’ll die. Murphy manages to turn but then hits a trash can when avoiding a pedestrian. He melts down but Leah talks him through it and he gets back behind the wheel. It’s time for the announcement. Andrews is keeping the title himself. Billy is in tears because he’s so happy they fixed his forehead. Murphy calls it a mistake because he crashed. Billy says they saved his life.

It’s time to check on George and Browne finds out that he’s gone. She and Reznick run outside just in time to see him step in front of a bus. Lim meets Melendez at a bar. They get a drink and decide for real to stand together. Reznick talks to Browne about what happened. Murphy and Leah give Glassman a ride to radiation.

Why do I watch this? When are Lim and Melendez going to sleep together? I need to quit this show.
